What you need to know before getting a Siberian husky puppy.

SELECTING A BREEDER AND PUPPY

Holding Siberian Husky puppies can be an interesting experience. You will be overpower by their cuteness. All puppies are cute, but furry puppies have an ineffable appeal that can make human beings do foolish things. We are here to help you keep your wits as you select your puppies so that you will make an excellent choice.

Selecting a breeder for your Siberian husky should be relatively easy. You must look for an established breeder with outstanding dog ethics and a strong commitment to the breed. Check the breeder’s background, breeding environment, breeder’s knowledge and the willingness of them to share and guide you.New owner usually have many questions. An established breeder should be able to answer all your queries. They should be available for assistance regardless whether it is day or night. Breeders should also accept the puppy back without questions asked if you find out that this breed of puppy does not suit you or your lifestyle.

DO YOU KNOW ?

If you lead an erratic, unpredictable life with daily or weekly changes in your work requirements consider the problems of owning a puppy .The new puppy need to be fed regularly, socialized, loved, petted, handled, introduced to other people and most importantly allowed to visit outdoors for toilet training purpose. As the dog gets older it can be more tolerant of deviations in its feeding and toilet relief. Owning a dog is not really as convenient as many thought. Responsibility and commitment play a larger role. It's not convenient to have a four-legged wolf creature running around your house, chewing, piddling and messing every room it enters. We don't choose to share our homes with dogs because it's convenient!

But there are other fringe benefits to this thing we call dog ownership.

What else....

Your puppy should have a well-fed appearance but not a distended abdomen, which may indicate worms or incorrect feeding or both. The body should be firm with a solid feel. The skin of the abdomen should be pale pink and clean, without signs of scratches or rash. Check the hind legs to make certain that dewclaws were removed, if any were present at birth. New breeder will try very hard to get rid of that first litter of ten puppies. They are more than accommodating and anxious to sell you a puppy. That local breeder lives only a couple of miles away. That local breeder isn't going to interrogate you and your family about your intentions with their puppy, the environment and training you can provide and etc. Unlike a knowledgeable breeder who has his dogs screened for hip and eyes (free of hip dysplasia cataracts, PRA, etc) that local will be nowhere to be found when your poorly bred, badly adjusted four-pawed monster starts to growl and spit up at midnight . When viewing a litter of Siberian Husky puppies, you are looking for friendly, outgoing pups. That hopefully describes the whole litter, although there are usually one shy pup who cannot compete with the rest.

Huskies are surely pack animals, and the pecking order in the pack begins to take hold by the time the pups are four to five weeks of age. Breeders commonly allow visitors to see the litter by around the fifth or sixth week, and puppies leave for their new home between the eighth and tenth week. Breeders who permit their puppies to live early are more interested in your money than assuring their puppies' wellbeing. Puppies need to learn the rules of the trade from their dams, and most dams continue teaching the pups manners and 'dos and don'ts' until around the eighth weeks. Breeders actively socialize the puppies so that they are able to interact with the 'other species, 'i.e., humans! Given the long history that dogs and humans have, bonding between the two species is natural but must be nurtured. With Siberian Huskies, the bond is ever more evident, considering the customs of the Chukchi people raising puppies with children.

A well-bred, well-socialized Husky pup wants nothing more than to be near you and please you. That's as convenient as a puppy can be !
